“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” – William Butler Yeats
My name is Emily Seaborn and I am originally from Houston, Texas and have lived here in Lynchburg, Virginia for the last 6 years, which began when I moved here to attend Liberty University and continued with my getting married last May. I was homeschooled my entire life and went to a few co-ops to take courses when I got into Junior High. Once I reached college, I earned a full scholarship to play basketball at Liberty University and was able to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Graduate degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working towards dual endorsement in middle school and special education.
I completed my Graduate degree last year and have worked at LCA as a substitute teacher, after-care teacher and assistant basketball coach for the girl’s varsity basketball team. I have been coaching personal basketball lessons for girls the last few years and have also coached and trained girls with an AAU girls travel basketball team this past summer. Additionally, I am a Sunday school teacher for the children’s program at my church (Riverside Church) and am an independent consultant for Rodan + Fields. I am so excited to begin this journey with Onward Christian Academy! I was homeschooled my entire life and Lord willing, plan on homeschooling my children one day. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with our first child, and it’s a boy! I have always had a passion to teach and coach children and hope to enhance, equip and influence all students in a Godly and Christ-like manner that prepares them for their future in education and all areas of life.
